Welcome to my site, I’m Cliff Janssen.
I am a Quality Control Engineer working in the Aerospace Industry.
In order to relieve stress from the work place I have turned back to my artistic abilities. I have always been able to draw. Wood carving seemed a natural extension of that ability. I started carving back in 2000 to make some Christmas presents, and have been at it ever since.
I have done a lot of Celtic Knotwork carving. The most ambitious project was a fully covered Cradle for my sister.
I have produced numerous relief carvings, and fan carvings for furniture, linen fold work, a pineapple for an open scrolled pediment.
Turned Items that I have produced include:
- Bowls plates and platters up to 18″ in diameter
- Conducting batons
- Celtic music spoons,
- Salt and pepper grinders
- Christmas tree ornaments
- signs, cutting boards
Check out the Gallery for more.
I was at the Four Town Fair yesterday and was very impressed by the ornaments. Will you be displaying them on your website?
Hi, My wife bought a baton for me today at the Open Studios event. What are your hours so that we may stop by and when are you available on the phone?
Cliff’s a nice guy, to boot! A bit modest, he is. His work is both supremely beautiful artistically and practical for whatever use the item is intended — be it cutting board, director’s baton, rolling pin, bowl, or the other numerous items he’s produced. My favorite piece of his, though, is one which has no practical purpose, although it is a true masterpiece [in the literal sense of the term]. He has 100 to 150 hours of work in his Janssen family crest! I lust for the day I am able to afford to commission one for my clan.
Hi, Bob Johnson from East Haddam. Do you have any shows coming up soon? Or do you have a studio to see your works? I met you at a home show couple years ago where I had a lawn care booth. Bought a cheeseboard. Interested in another and maybe a bowl. Thanks can let me know. Rb17j@aol.com or text 860-575-3099
